Mad House

Do you ever have trouble making sense of the mad house? I do.

First thing in the morning, pouring milk over my cereal, I think I’ve got it. From my bed to the kitchen, things are under my thumb.

But by morning tea, I’ve looked out the window and checked my emails and certainty seems slippery.

By lunch, I’ve read the news and my grip is altogether gone. My brain’s in crumbs before I’ve finished my sandwich.

But by the afternoon I’ve had my second coffee and I’m regaining strength. I’ve put my finger on humanity’s three biggest maladies: capitalism, mosquitoes and too many sandwiches.

By evening I’ve prescribed myself writing, Aerogard and a massaman curry.

Never stop looking at the world. The clearest eye you’ve got is the pen in your hand.
