Feeling Disconnected in a Connected World – Writing Prompt

Since the invention of technology, and particularly the rise of social media, networks have transitioned to a digital space. Instead of talking, sharing and connecting to those around us, we’ve developed into a society of disconnection, where we spend around 50 days each year on our phone, where we amass large friends lists on Facebook and Instagram to make ourselves feel better, where we post selfies instead group pics, where we sit in a room all alone on computers instead of seeing what’s outside, where we travel the world through a screen.

When you’re thinking about what to write for this years anthology on the theme ‘Networks’, think about what social media and technology has done to our society. Has social media and smart phones brought us closer together? Or torn us apart?

We look forward to reading your submissions and can’t wait to see the creativity, originality and skill of the USYD network! Submit your work here.
